“confirmed turkeys exist at adams in wappingers”
I sent that message Sunday morning after getting a reply from Adams Fairacre Farms.
This was important information. Thanksgiving was four days away and we still needed the main thing. They had fresh turkeys. Problem solved.
The holiday week was otherwise full of ideas that were a little less practical.
I had started buying a few NFTs. I called them “baby apes” in an email, which was apparently a completely normal sentence in November 2021. A small group of us had a spreadsheet for contributions, Ethereum, and wallets. Apply was also talking about releasing NFTs of our stickers.
My summary at the time was: “will be fun, who knows what we'll get.”
That was the whole plan. We made physical art that people could stick anywhere. Turning some of it into digital art seemed worth trying. We bought a few things, learned how the mechanics worked, and waited to see if artists or collectors cared.
The normal Apply work did not stop for the experiment. The company was at Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg over the weekend. Orders kept coming in. The daily marketing report arrived every morning, including Thanksgiving. We had also just hired somebody to help with the physical fulfillment work that was becoming a real operation.
TRX kept moving too. Version 10.1.1 had a new TestFlight build Tuesday, another on Wednesday, and one more early Friday morning.
Amanda and I spent Thanksgiving with people we loved. Eva was there, obviously. The turkey came out looking pretty good, even after all the unnecessary stress about whether one could be found.
By Friday morning, the week had included a turkey search, a sticker company, a spreadsheet full of wallet details, and an app build before breakfast. The turkey existed. The NFT idea was still an experiment.
