My brother was getting married in Indiana. I was the best man.
The calendar also had a normal workweek in it.
I asked to work remotely from Indiana for part of the week, then take the rehearsal and wedding days completely off.
There was a bachelor party, a tux fitting, a rehearsal, and the wedding itself. The email put all of that plainly in front of the schedule I was requesting.
The request went to my boss more than two weeks before the trip. I gave him the week, explained why I needed to be there, and proposed the split between remote work and time off.
“Let me know if you have any issues with that or we need to discuss.”
I have not gotten a yes yet. This is a request, not an approved calendar. I am suggesting a way to cover part of the week while keeping the rehearsal and wedding days clear.
I do not have the approval yet. That is why I sent the plan early enough to discuss and gave my boss a clear chance to object.
I am not asking to work through the rehearsal and wedding. Those are the days I asked to take off completely. The remote part belongs earlier in the week.
