One of you needs to take it.
Reality Check still needs the infrastructure engineer. I have now made the same offer to two people I worked with at Beatport.
The salary number is in the private chat. The rest of the pitch was a company MetroCard, help with the move to New York, and a gym membership.
I added one more ridiculous little incentive: if one person takes the job and gets the other one to come at the same rate, I will add another thousand dollars.
I made SS the same offer one of you needs to take it
That was the message. There was a lot of “hahahaha” around it, but I was serious.
The role is still the same one I was trying to fill two weeks ago. Fedora. RPMs. Puppet. Cobbler. Programming. Somebody who can become the go-to person for the infrastructure and help build the control tower instead of waiting for me to carry every part of it.
Both people are in Denver. The job is in New York. It is not the kind of work that can stay completely remote because the machines, networks, and data center are here.
The answer was not yes.
It was “hmm,” then a question about what the other person had said.
Nothing yet.
Very helpful.
I kept asking anyway.
So the position is still open, the two former teammates are now comparing notes, and I am still trying to turn one hire into two.
One of you needs to take it.
