Holy shit..... Now I am being recruited by Facebook....
That was the complete note I added before forwarding the email.
A Facebook recruiter found my profile online and asked if I wanted to learn about a full-time role. There was no long pitch. No detailed job description. Just a message saying they had an opportunity and wanted to connect.
The signature said Palo Alto. The email did not say whether that was also where the job would be.
It did include two phone numbers, just in case I needed proof the message was real.
Of course I wanted to connect.
The timing is funny. I am at Peek, I just started doing systems work for AdaptiveBlue on the side, and two days ago I was trying to decide whether taking a third job would be too much.
Apparently the universe thinks the answer is more jobs.
Facebook is different from another little consulting project. The company is operating at a scale I have never touched. I do not know what the job is yet, what team it is for, or where it would be. I also do not know whether I am what they actually want. A recruiter finding a profile is the start of a conversation, not a job offer.
Still, it is Facebook.
I forwarded the note almost immediately because I could not believe it had landed in my inbox. Then I replied to the recruiter and asked to talk.
There is plenty to sort out if the conversation becomes real. For today, it is one email.
Facebook found me online.
Holy shit.
