A friend reported that Arapahoe Basin still had snow, so he was planning another day there.
A friend had just come back from Arapahoe Basin and reported a decent base with soft snow all day. His plan was to go again Sunday or Memorial Day, arrive early or camp, bring a grill, ski, drink beer, and get some sun.
Another friend had access to a 12-person tent.
That turned the email subject into a real place: "The Beach @ Arapahoe Basin." The Beach was the row of parking spots along the lower mountain where people set up chairs, grills, coolers, and whatever else made spring skiing last all day.
The plan was still loose. Pick Sunday or Memorial Day. Decide whether to arrive early or camp. Volunteer a grill. Find out whether the 12-person tent should come too.
I had not answered in the thread. I had not chosen a day, offered equipment, or said I would camp. The invitation did not put me in the tent or on the mountain.
Four days earlier, my PEAKS statement had offered next season's Epic Pass. It showed zero reward points and no reward certificates. This email concerned the current snow instead. One person had just skied it. Another had a tent. A grill and beer were part of the proposed plan.
No campsite, lift ticket, or meeting time was confirmed in the messages I had. Nobody had settled Sunday versus Monday.
As of Sunday, it was still an invitation for one more ski day, not a completed trip.
