The classified site said my post was not live yet.
I still had to click the confirmation link.
The post was about finding a new home for my young Weimaraner. She had come to Colorado the previous summer. I had written about how happy she was and how fast she was learning. Every travel plan suddenly needed a place that allowed dogs.
Six months later, I had written this ad.
The site made the choice look easy. Click to publish. Click to edit. Click to delete. The link would expire if I did nothing.
I had also started talking with people who might adopt her. The post was still sitting between draft and live.
The dog had already changed ordinary plans. In August I searched for an Estes Park cabin that would allow her. Christmas photos show her running through deep snow.
The confirmation page still gave me four choices: publish, edit, delete, or let it expire.
I had not clicked publish.
The site would keep the post offline until I used the confirmation link. I could still edit the wording, delete it, or do nothing and let the link expire.
The people I had spoken with were waiting for an answer. The dog was still at home with me. Nothing changed until I chose one of those buttons.
For now, the post stayed unpublished.
No public listing. No final handoff. The dog was still at home while I worked out what to do next.
I still had time before the confirmation link expired.
